LEISURELY LECTIONARY

Are you looking for a weekly opportunity to reflect on the Bible? Have you listened to sermons in church and found yourself wanting more? Me too! Come and join me in Davidson Lounge every Wednesday for Leisurely Lectionary from 10:30-11:30 AM to share in simple discussion and reflection upon our readings in the Revised Common Lectionary. The current readings can be found here . Each Wednesday, we study the lesson for the coming Sunday.

Leisurely Lectionary will take a summer break again this year. The last Wednesday morning Bible study at 10:30 am will be June 17, 2010. We’ll start up again on September 15, 2010. Come and join us!

THE FAMILY POTLUCK

The Family Potluck (once known as the Parenting Potluck) was started by our own Carol Zechman and Kate Ekedahl in the fall of 2006. As parents themselves, Carol and Kate thought it would be helpful to have an educational outlet for parents to come together to share ideas and learn some more meaningful ways to parent as Christians. This hope has inspired a series of potluck dinners for parents and families to journey together. These potlucks and conversations are a way just to get together and get to know each other outside of worship. The meetings are (usually) once a month and has always involved a potluck meal. Babysitting is provided at $5/per family.

WOMEN’S SPIRITUALITY CIRCLE

Experience the rebirth of the Women’s Spirituality Circle. Energize your spiritual life and be in fellowship with other women for casual yet focused conversation. This spiritual opportunity is open to all women 18 years and older. These women meet on the third Wednesday of each month at 7:00 PM in Davidson Lounge. Topics vary based on the movement of the groups participants. Come and explore your faith with us.

PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY

The Prayer Shawl Ministry is a national one, begun as a tangible expression of love for those whom we hold in our prayers because of a time of worry, illness or other difficulty. The patterns are easy and can be knit or crocheted. Anyone can make one, even beginners, and its fun to do. We’ve recently formed a group in our church to knit and/or crochet, either for specific persons or to have ready for a time when a need arises. We gather Tuesday evenings at 6:30 in Davidson Lounge. If you’re interested in learning more about our Prayer Shawl group, please contact Darla Harris (799-6773). PLEASE NOTE: Join us when the knitting and crocheting needles start clicking again on September 13th and each Tuesday night after that!

ESKIMO MEN'S CLUB

The Eskimos are the Men’s Club of the Church. They were formed under the Eskimo name in December 1934 and today consist of about 55 men. They have two objectives: to promote good fellowship among men of the Church and to further the interests of the Church such as by providing services and donations of financial support to the Church. The Eskimos meet in the “Igloo” (Guptill Hall) at 6:15 PM on the first Wednesdays of October through May. Our ladies are invited to attend the November and May meetings.

HILLTOP GUILD

The Guild is the ladies group that meets in Guptill Hall on the the second Thursday of the month from October through May. Supers are held every other month when the gathering starts at 6:30 PM. When there's no supper, the group gathers at 7:00 PM. There's always a program decided by the ladies.
