What's Happening in Faith Formation for Kids?
We're changing our vocabulary around the church. In our old language, this was a page for Christian Education -- but we're shifting to call this area of ministry “Faith Formation” -- including Sunday School, Confirmation and Adult Education. It’s a reminder that every disciple at every age is in the process of being formed by the Spirit of God.
REGISTER FOR FAITH FORMATION! This year, we're offering our registration for Faith Formation -- including Sunday School, Christ Kid's Club and other special events -- through an online form. Please download this registration form here.
Sunday school classes are available for children three years and older through the eighth grade during the 10:00 a.m. Sunday service, from September through May. Our curriculum, Seasons of the Spirit, provides a traditional approach to Christian education, is designed for preschool through 8th grade. This program will help children develop a deep and life-giving relationship with God, seek and trust the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and identify themselves as children of God who are growing in discipleship.

Once a month, our children in first through eighth grades meet for Christ’s Kids Club -- a progressive approach to learning which goes beyond Bible knowledge to explore who we are and what we do as Christians through kid-friendly multimedia such as art, drama, music and games. This year, we will put a special emphasis on SERVICE and STEWARDSHIP. In 2010-2011, we'll be exploring how we experience God in our play using a new material from the United Church of Christ called Faith Practices.
For infants and toddlers we offer well-staffed child care in bright and attractive rooms. Parents are welcome to stay with their children to help in the transition.
At the middle of May, we honor our children on CELEBRATION SUNDAY! On the Sunday of this special worship experience, our children lead us in worship, prayer and song as we celebrate their presence in our community. After church, we will share in food and fellowship at an All-Church Picnic!
Children and Families are welcome to share in fellowship with THE FAMILY POTLUCK (sometimes known as the Parenting Potluck). This group of parents hosts potlucks and conversations as a way to get together and get to know each other outside of worship. The meetings are (usually) once a month and include a potluck meal. Babysitting is provided at $5/per family. Contact parenting@fccucc.org. Please also see the Adult Faith Enrichment Programs page for the latest information about courses, groups and events for adult members, friends and visitors to the church.
